Mushroom House.

This was made from the gaint cupcake pan my mom got for me for Christmas.

Here's the back side.  Shane is taking it to work tomorrow for people to eat it.  I plan on putting some fondant butterflies and flowers on it so more pictures may come but as you can see that it is slightly leaning I am afraid it may fall so this was just to document it just in case it takes a tumble.

Spring/Pre-moving Cleaning

mood: feeling fat
I just cleaned out my closet, trying on everything that wasn't bought in the last few weeks, and I am getting rid of 21 shirts and 11 pants.  It feels good to shed nine years worth of clutter but sad to have to admit that some outfits I'll never fit into again.  There is still a "maybe" pile so more stuff may go.  Well, back to work.

I'm back in the Boro for a while.  Vacation was good with very little happening, though I think I have a job when I go back to E'ville.  It's called Piece of Cake and is located in downtown Evansville.  I didn't fill out any paperwork so I guess they could still change their minds but I was told to call them Feb 1 when I move there.  Well, that's about all that happened.  I met Shane's extremely fat cat to who I believed loved me.  =)  Shane and I did go see Bolt as he had never seen it.  Once again it was good.

Bolt is AWESOME!!!  I suguest any and all to go see it.
Kathy and I went and saw it in 3D and it was very cool.  I think it's good to see that they do the 3D thing well now in days and they do it far more often then I thought as every preview but one was in 3D.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is killing us at the bakery.  I've worked 12+hrs for the past two days and I have to go in again at 7 tomorrow.  We had over a hundred orders for tomorrow and about half was cake orders (the other half are pies and dinner rolls).  At least it's all over tomorrow.

Delicious Bakery was featured in North Carolina Signature magizine.  It was one of ten bakeries in North Carolina that the magizine did a story on and there is a picture of my cupcake on the table of contents.  Here's a link that I think everyone should look at  My Cupcake )I wish it had the delicious article to look at but it stops just short of it.

Things of Interest

I saw the movie Burn After Reading last night and it was certainty interesting and a lot of fun.  Primness: Woman finds a government agent's personal files and tries to blackmail him for money to pay for her plastic surgery.  I have to say Brad Pitt's character was the best part of the movie as he was the funniest but everyone had there moments.
Here's a fun website even for those who do not  decorate cakes: http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/
Also has everyone heard of the atom smasher?  I believe it called the Large Hadron Collider and they are using it to try and recreate the Big Bang theroy.  It's a gaint tube in Europe that's cost about 13 billion dollars.  The plan is the collide two atoms each going the speed of light and to see what happens.  Some believe it might cause a black hole to form that would swallow up the earth.  They've already turned the mechine on but it will take several months for the atoms to get up to the speed of light.
Well, that's it for the Things of Interest in amy's life.

Sour Grapes: Not just a Metaphor
11:33pm 04/08/2008

mood: Loneful and a little blah
I indeed experienced sour grapes over the weekend that I bought from Food Lion.  There was about half and half of delicious sweet ones mixed in with the deceitful sour ones.  Of course I had to keep eating them so it was an interesting weekend.  It was the closest thing God could create to a box of chocolates.
I spent much of the weekend painting my coffee table and watching Charlie Chaplin movies.  Sunday I ventured out with kathy to go to my boss's nephew's birthday party.  He was turning eight and his parents had a dunking booth, a cotton candy machine , a snow cone machine, and more food then one could imagine.  It was quite the thing.
Today I salvaged some PVC pipes to use to make a room divider to hide my washer and dryer.  Pictures of the apartment is coming soon.

The Boro on Vaction
10:21am 03/07/2008

mood: smitted by the sun
Those of us in Greensboro went on vaction last weekend to Charleston, SC.  It was a five hour trip that we made in Kathy's truck.  We arrived Friday night just outside of Charleston to spend the night in one of the most shady Motel 6 we have ever seen.  Several hookers were spotted approching cars and people were heard yelling in the parking lot all night.  The shower was a tiny square that the curtain didn't quite fit and the shower head leaked spraying above the shower curtain and soaking any artical of clothing or towel that you might have brought into the bathroom with you.  Also one bed was missing a sheet.  The bed Shane and I slept in.  Motel 6 = $73.
The next day gladly leaving the Motel 6 behind we headed toward Magnolia Plantation, or so we thought.  We spent much of the morning lost due to no fault of my own.  After a couple of hours of touring the Charleston highways and countryside and buying a new map we made our way to the plantation.  Magnolia Plantations are very pretty.  We went through the gardens that were just amazing that lead from the house all the way to the swamp were we took a nature boat tour.  The boat tour was kind of slow as the alligators thought it was too hot to come to the surface (and they were right) and they stayed at the bottom of the swamp.  The tour was amusing and we did see many many birds.  After that we made our way back to the house and drove to the bog garden also on site of the plantation.  It was also very pretty and we were able to see an Egret rookery.  Veronica would have loved it.
After that we found a new hotel called La Quinta with no hookers to be seen, sheets on all the beds, a decent shower and all around cleanliness much higher.  La Quinta = $102 (and worth every penny)
After we found the hotel we went to downtown Charleston for dinner.  We splurged and had drinks and many appiterzers.  It was very yummy.  Around 9:15 we headed toward our guided ghost tour of downtown Charleston.  Our guide was very enthuistic and knowledgeable and lead us around some of the noteworthy buildings of downtown and into a Unitarian cemetary that was very pretty and creepy as the Unitarians let their graveyards become over grown with vegitaton.
The next day we threw caution and weather reports of thurderstorms to the wind and went to the beach.  We put on plenty of sunscreen and headed out into the waves and dug holes  on the beach only to let the incomming tide destroy them for about four hours.  We headed out as the clouds gathered and thunder could be heard in the distance.  We stopped in at a restaraunt and waited out the storm and the traffic fleeing the beach.  After about an hour it was safe and clear to head home.  Only then did we start to suspect that the sun had not been kind to us.  In fact by the first gas station out of the area we started shedding clothes.  Shane ended up shirtless and kathy and I were both braless and pantless.  It was a painful five hour trek home.
Today we are still in pain but are recovering with our bathing suits no longer being outlined in searing red but a more acceptable pink.

Here are some pics of the trip.

Boo on Cloverfield
11:01pm 02/07/2008

mood: sick
I'm sorry, I know this moive is ages old now but Shane and I just watched it.  Movies like Cloverfield and Blair Witch are good for inspiring a sense of mystery and suspense while watching the previews, but that's all you get out of these movies.  You enjoy the excitement of wanting to know what happens over the months and weeks before the movie comes out but after the actual movie experince you realize you've been had.  The people who make these movies believe that by using a camcorder to film it the audience will feel like they are actually there or it feels more real.  Bah I say!  Nothing is more annoying than watching an hour and half to two hours of someone running looking at their feet and asking everyone else what is going on.  It just hides bad monsters and flimsey plots.
Sorry about this rant.  Please carry on as you were.

More about Charleston SC later.
